B.J. Blazkowicz Wants All the Guns

Welcome to the 32 Dangerous Cheat Codes, a brand new series that will run daily between November 24 and December 25. Join us as we discuss the hazardous ramifications of some of your favorite cheat codes. Today we're digging through the gun closet to keep up with Wolfenstein 3D's weapon code. This is one of the most famous gun codes of all time and available for every version of the game. Find out why this cheat code is a bad idea in the real world when you check out today's episode of the 32 Dangerous Cheat Codes.

Don't be confused by the innocent looking bookshelf, because we're about to enter Bernard's secret gun room. What his friends, co-workers and even family don't know is that Bernard is secretly a gun collector. He spends all of his free time scouring for deals online and at nearby gun shows, and he's not about to stop any time soon. Be it civil war, alien invasion or zombie apocalypse, this mild-mannered stockbroker is ready to defend his house from whatever comes his way.

You know who else collects guns and ammo? B.J. Blazkowicz in Wolfenstein 3D. Just stick with me here. He's an undercover spy who just so happens to have single-handedly dismantled the Third Reich and killed robot Hitler. Along the way he found all kinds of high-powered weapons that helped him terminate the Nazi scum once and for all. But B.J. has a secret up his sleeves that Bernard could only dream about. At any point during the game, our hero can punch in a simple cheat code and collect all of the guns, ammo and keys found in Castle Wolfenstein.

As you can probably imagine, this is a huge deal and it can be done a number of ways depending on the platform. For example, PC gamers can stockpile all of the guns by pressing the I, L and M keys at the same time. Over on the Game Boy Advance, we're told to hold both the L and R shoulder buttons and press A, B, B, A five times. It's a little easier on the Jaguar, where all you have to do is press 4, 9, 9 and 6 on the controller's numerical pad. These codes will give our badass hero all of the weapons, full ammo and the keys needed to make robot Hitler with minimal effort.

But what made sense during World War II doesn't exactly work in the 21st century, just ask Bugs Bunny. If Bernard were to get his hands on that cheat code and magically collect all of the world's guns and ammo, it would lead to a number of unexpected problems. For one thing, his tiny gun closet wouldn't be able to fit the more than 875 million weapons found on this planet. The guns would literally spill out of his house, just sitting there for pretty much anybody to come and steal. And even if he were able to somehow keep intruders out and safely secure his arsenal, is it really a good idea for one man to hold onto all of the guns? What would stop a world leader or Batman super villain from offing Bernard and using his 875 million guns against the rest of us? That's too much power for one man to have.
