Secret Footage from Ground Zero: Texas

Welcome to the 32 Dangerous Cheat Codes, a brand new series that will run daily between November 24 and December 25. Join us as we discuss the hazardous ramifications of some of your favorite cheat codes. Today we're proving the point that everything is better with a hidden post-credits sequence. This includes Ground Zero: Texas, a horrible full-motion video game released on the Sega CD. Find out why this scene is worth checking out what you watch today's episode of the 32 Dangerous Cheat Codes.

What we're looking at right now are the credits to Ground Zero: Texas, the dopey alien invasion game for the Sega CD. Much like Night Trap, Prize Fighter and the rest of CD games from Digital Pictures, this is a full-motion video experience with a grainy visuals and B-grade production values. But you know what would make this credit scene even better? How about a hidden scene at the end that rewards players for sticking around.

Okay, look, I know it sounds silly, but post-credit scenes are all the rage. While the concept goes all the way back to the 1970s with The Muppet Movie and has been featured in everything from Ferris Bueller's Day Off to Airplane!, it has recently been popularized by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, using it to get people hyped for the next comic book adventure. It's a trend we've even seen seep into TV shows, with Westworld being the most recent example. It's an enticing way to trick people into sitting through a long boring list of names.

As somebody who normally sits through the credits anyway, I'm going to use Ground Zero: Texas to prove the theory that that these random post-credit scenes make everything better. I can do that because this particular full-motion video game has a cheat code that stops the credits and shows you a brand new sequence cut from the main story. All you need to do is quickly press C, B, A and then the start button and you'll watch this baffling clip.

Okay, so that doesn't make a lot of sense out of context, but it's still better than watching names scroll by. And did you know that this guy, Scott Lawrence, has been in some of the biggest movies of all time? The guy managed to find his way into movies like Star Trek: Into Darkness and Avatar, as well as TV shows like Jag and Fear the Walking Dead. He even shows up as a voice actor in Mafia III and played Darth Vader in a bunch of Star Wars games. At this point I'm pretty sure Scott doesn't even include Ground Zero: Texas on his resume.
