Welcome to a brand new episode of Defunct Games Decides, the show that isn't afraid to get to the bottom of classic video game arguments. Today we're looking at two of the most exciting racing games for the Nintendo Entertainment System -- Super Sprint and R.C. Pro-Am. One was a huge hit in the arcades, while the other is from the makers of Conker's Bad Fur Day. When it comes to old school 8-bit racing games, who crosses the finish line first? Find out when Josh Despain pits these two racers together in a new episode of Defunct Games Decides.
Super Sprint vs. R.C. Pro-Am

SUPER SPRINT: Developed by the already reputable Atari Games, Super Sprint provides a racing fix for those who enjoy the challenge of sprinting your way to a first place finish. If you can survive the water and oil puddles, plus the occasional tornado on any of the highly unique track designs, you may just find yourself in the winners circle. Finding it difficult to beat the other three cars? Not to worry, Super Sprint will allow you to pick up wrenches and trade them in for upgrades to your ride. Start your engines ...

R.C. PRO-AM: Tired of just completing lap after lap of regular racing? Then jump in to something new and unique, with R.C. Pro-Am. Blast your competition to bits using missiles or bombs, all while maneuvering your radio controlled car through 25 beautifully designed levels of isometric racing mayhem. Don't forget to collect power-ups along the way to gain the upper hand. Just watch out for the traps, they may just jump up and getcha! If you also happen collect and spell N-I-N-T-E-N-D-O, you will be rewarded with a new and faster car. Are your batteries fully charged?

VERDICT: Well there it is, a complete comparison between two popular racing games on the Nintendo Entertainment System. It's clear that R.C. Pro-Am is the winner in this debate. Published reviews from the time also support this claim, by calling it innovative and compelling. It's not uncommon to find that many people have R.C. Pro-Am listed as one of their favorite 8-bit games. Even though the less heralded Super Sprint didn't win this race, it's still a worthy contender. It has a good reputation, and can still give you a good racing fix.
