Sony's Long Awaited Surprise??

God of War is great, but God of War II is NOT "Long Awaited!"
Last night Sony became the first company to show off its wares (and hardware) and there were a number of big surprises. They talked about the price, the control and the release date, but that isn't the surprise I am talking about. I'll get to all the Sony stuff in my next post, but for now I want to talk about God of War II!

I already know what you're thinking. How is that a surprise? Haven't we known about God of War II since the Game Developers Conference? Yes we have, but that isn't the surprise I'm talking about. Rather, I'm here to discuss the one truly bizarre line at Sony's E3 2006 Press Conference. And that line is, "Long awaited sequel to God of War."

The "long awaited sequel"?? How can that be?? The first game isn't even a year old yet! I hate to go off on a rant here, but of all the Sony sequels that could be considered "long awaited" I would say God of War II isn't even on the top 100. God of War was easily one of the best games of last year (and I'm sure this sequel will end up being just as much fun), but when it comes to a game released mere months ago you just can't call the sequel "long awaited!"

Want to talk about long awaited sequels? Where's the next installment of Motor Toon Grand Prix or Jumping Flash?? Actually, Sony has a lot of good games from the original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 that deserve a shot at a sequel; it's time for Sony to remember their roots. You can go ahead an call Warhawk "long awaited," but don't give us this crap about a God of War sequel being long awaited. Sony, that's how you lose credibility (and you're going to need as much of that as you can get in this upcoming battle).
