Electronic Gaming Monthly's Best & Worst Awards of 1993

1993 was the year when Philadelphia and Schindler's List moved Oscar voters. It was also the year when Seinfeld came into its own and started to dominate at the Emmys, all while Whitney Houston swept the Grammys. But what about the video game awards? If you've ever wanted to know what old school games took home the top prizes, then you've definitely come to the right place. Today we're going to recreate Electronic Gaming Monthly's Best & Worst of 1993, featuring three dozen categories that include Worst System Launch, Most Controversial Game and Best Street Fighter II Wannabe. So let me cue up the VHS tape and introduce you to the greatest televised show to never be broadcast. Welcome to 1993.

Still want more? New episodes of Electronic Gaming Monthly's Best & Worst Awards Show will be posted every Tuesday and Thursday through the end of 2018. If you still can't get enough, then make sure and subscribe to the Defunct Games YouTube channel for more reviews, analysis and award shows.

Special thanks to Electronic Gaming Monthly for putting the awards together in the first place, the Oscar telecast for supplying me with so many great cutaway shots, and to you for watching this crazy video.
