Electronic Gaming Monthly's Best & Worst Awards of 1997

1997 was the year that gave us the King of the Oscars, Titanic. It was also the year when Jamiroquai was caught in Virtual Insanity at the Grammys and John Lithgow stunned everybody by beating Kelsey Grammer at the Emmys. But what about the game awards? If you've ever wanted to know what old school games took home the top prizes, then you've definitely come to the right place. Today we're going to recreate Electronic Gaming Monthly's Best & Worst Awards of 1997, featuring more than 30 categories that include Worst Voice Acting, Best Use of Teats and Game That Should've Stayed in the Arcade. So let me cue up the VHS tape and introduce you to the greatest televised awards show to never be broadcast. Look out, we're living virtual insanity.

Still want more? New episodes of Electronic Gaming Monthly's Best & Worst Awards Show will be posted every Tuesday and Thursday through the end of 2018. If you still can't get enough, then make sure and subscribe to the Defunct Games YouTube channel for more reviews, analysis and award shows.

Special thanks to Electronic Gaming Monthly for putting the awards together in the first place, the Oscar telecast for supplying me with so many great cutaway shots, and to you for watching this crazy video.
